The client had fallen in love with, and already purchased, the Belfast sink. She knew she wanted a Smeg Victoria oven (or similar) as she felt this reflected what they were trying to achieve. The home is typical of the area – traditional but with a modern twist featuring sandstone foundations, some Art Deco features and a cottage garden. Park of a new extension, there were no restrictions on design, placement of fixtures or layout.
Californian Bungalow-style design was the best fit for the new space. This style has enough traditional elements to ensure it would seamlessly fit in with the rest of the home and its simple aesthetic creates a more informal, casual feel that reflects the homeowner’s lifestyle.
Owner specified a large work space area with feature appliances, plus separate butler’s pantry, to support their lavish entertaining activities. With a young family, space for children to sit at the island was also a must.
